For about 6 years now I've suffered off and on with anxiety/hypochondria. I'm only 20 years old. About 3 years ago I had some blood work done all came back perfectly fine and went to the dr with the random "chest pain" about 2 years ago, he said I was fine but I haven't felt fine at all. It seems as if the worry of these random diseases and major illnesses have gotten worse to the point of OCD where I can't stop thinking about it. I met with my doctor Monday and my blood pressure was high because I have a bad cold & also b/c I was so nervous but he said I definately have anxiety, and thats whats causing the symptoms like the racing heart, heart flutters, dizziness, etc… & because I worry about heart attacks, etc it worsens these symptoms. Does anyone know of any natural herb or remedy to help with this? I've been married for about a year and a half now & all I seem to do is complain about something hurting or being dizzy & it makes me feel almost to the point of depression at times.
At times Im just scared its something serious and not anxiety but as my doctor said, Im 20 years old 125 pounds, and if something were seriously wrong it would've been picked up prior to now but I just can't seem to get that in my mind..
wow katrina gave you some great advice ! i have had anxiety and i know all about the thinking things are wrong but this is usually from thinking these things to strongly! i am a NHC and i like to just embrace each new day as a blessing and as Katrina has suggested try some of these suggestions ! also try to get into calming and balacing activities ie=tai chi, yoga, meditation and their is also biofeedback! i think also you have to find the good things in life because we are what we think. so try changin negitives into positives mabe that will help .also try relaxiation tapes or cd's all of these things can help. i personally like the homopathic and herbal remedies but this is only because i have not used the bach flower essences i studied them in class but have not used them anyway, take care of yourself! you are the only you there is! and be happy! it is a choice !sometimes a challenging one ! but we choose what we think! mabe also you could try some relaxation tapes and mediatation. there a lots of positive things out their just start smiling and looking!
No easy answer here…but maybe I can offer something basic to you. Worrying uses quite a bit of energy which can lead to stress induced issues…in your case it sounds like anxiety. Do you realize that worry is simply the habit of thought, that attracts a similar thought and then another and another. Guess what I'm saying is you have ultimate control over this. Some amount of 'concern' in ones life is normal…I use these instances to stop and think about the issue…decide if it's something I want in my life…and if not…I decide what I do want in regards to that issue! Then instead of the 'worry train' of thoughts…I then write out (or type myself and email) what I prefer. Let's say it's a health related issue, and the subject is anxiety…I am 'worried' about it but that does NOT feel good after a bit…so I decide..what's the opposite of that? Hmmm..how about…"well, I know I can always call my doc if it gets really bad" or "I'm glad I'm using these deep breathing techniques to help when I feel it coming on" or "I'm glad I have a way to distract myself when I start this worrying..by putting in a movie that makes me feel good, or going for a walk or walking my dog, or cleaning my room…(basically distracting myself). "I'm glad I have some natural remedies that are safe that I can take when I need them" (check out Bach Flower Essences online -very safe and pretty cool & there are numerous herbs out there too) "I'm glad I decide to workout/exercise more to feel better about myself" "I think I'll cook something special for a favorite person in my life" "I think I'll write a list of 100 things that make me feel good, instead of always focusing on things that seem wrong" etc etc….You CAN change things…just start deciding to try – one day at a time.

When you have a hard time differentiating between reality and your imagination you have to go through a check list in your mind to help you differentiate. Like for example: I have a head ache…oh no it could be a tumor!" so you probably go to the Internet and start looking for symptoms of tumors but next time ask yourself a few questions they can be made up but here is a few ideas:
1. do i want to have a tumor?
2. IS it better to have a tumor or a headache? then make a conscieous choice to tell yourself you have a headache.
when you feel like your mind is going in circles count to ten and start thinking about one thing, everytime you can't stop thinking about it, think about one thing. Like how to make really good hot chocolate and go through the steps in your head until you can calm down and maybe it will take once or a few times but it should decrease if you just go through the steps, "step one get a cup, step two chocolate..etc" It may sound lame but it works because it gets your mind off of it. . Anything but always keep it simple and posotive and stick to that one thing.
The fact is that one symptom can lead to thousands of different dieases that you don't want and don't have. If you are anxious meditate, really meditation and exersize helps big time. Panic attacks are not fun and can be scarry but you can control them with your mind by doing physical activity or little routines that take place of those thoughts. Also Valerian extracts really helps too but it's best to always try mind controling alternatives first.
