Possible 75% cancer mortality reduction with Vitamin D

In a new study, researchers at the Moores Cancer Center and Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, UC San Diego used a complex computer prediction model to determine that intake of vitamin D3 and calcium would prevent 58,000 new cases of breast cancer and 49,000 new cases of colorectal cancer annually in the US and Canada. The researchers model also predicted that 75% of deaths from these cancers could be prevented with adequate intake of vitamin D3 and calcium. Dr. Cedric Garland, UCSD School of Medicine, lead researcher on the study discusses the implications of this finding and the proposed actions. About Eliza

After getting deathly sick as a two-year-old and finally achieving great health decades later by learning and applying sound health principles and taking a good daily vitamin, I became a huge advocate for natural healers. I work hard to help people improve their own and others lives through nutrition class, holistic medicine training, holistic schools, and alternative medicine schools. I can personally attest to how great they are for you and your loved ones!

    After the ‘sane …
After the ‘sane humans laugh’, I can then
    turn to you!

Paddy, you sound like your in your cups!
Always remember, it is no crime to be
stupid, but there are no reasons why you
must ‘advertise’ it to the world.

    Vitamin D cost $10 for about a 2 month
supply. Drugs used in chemo theraphy
    $7000-1000.

I finally realize why my great grandfather
left Ireland and would not go back. If the
Irish in Ireland are a dumb as you,
then I don’t think I’d want to visit either.

    You said “drug …

The medical community now recommends levels … not reached by many tanned, outdoorsy people.

To stay above the recommended minimum of 75-150 nmol/L, we must take supplements. Yet even dietary supplementation seems to be countered within the body.

It looks like natural selection has aimed for an optimal vitamin D level substantially lower than the recommended minimum of 75-150 nmol/L. This in turn implies some kind of disadvantage above the optimal level.” Early death?

    actually, 40-6% of …
actually, 40-6% of Americans are Vitamin D deficient!

  5. fntime says:

    Drug companies …
    Drug companies don’t sell vitamins,
not enough money to be made. Potentially
most people shouldn’t lack vitamin D,
but they do. I don’t drink milk, I don’t go
    out in the sun.
Also, the 400 mg daily requirement is
    too low.
    Vitamin D supplements are avialable
2 months supply for less than $10
    hardly anyone is getting rich.

If you don’t want to take vitamins, hey, it’s
a free country, but your comment is wrong
    and not well thought out.

This looks like a great way to make money off human suffering, by selling a vitamin most people don’t lack. I wonder what drug company sponsored this video…

Higher vitamin D concentrations, easily modifiable through nutritional supplementation, are ociated with longer telomeres, which underscores the potentially beneficial effects of this hormone on aging and age-related diseases.

Scurvy is avoided and cured with vitamin C. One could argue that iron and manganese are important to scurvy sufferers too, but: without citric acid a patient absolutely cannot survive scurvy regardless of how nutrient-rich his diet is.

there is a huge amount of research demonstrating that correcting vitamin D status will prevent many cancers and improve the prognosis .
b17 may be relevant but we now know for certain that low D3 is implicated at every stage of cancer so it is absolutely certain that correcting D3 insufficiency will improve prognosis or reduce incidence risk.
