Do animal products make allergies and asthma worse?
I have had horrible asthma my whole life to the point where I would end up in the hospital one to two times every year with pneumonia because of allergies and colds that became worse. In 1987 , I became a vegetarian and since then I have primarily been a vegetarian with a couple of years being a vegan. However, every now and then I would eat some kind of animal products because unfortunately, I still love the flavor.
Over these last 22 years basically using myself as a human guinea pig, the one thing that is incredible and undeniable even though I have been trying to, is that whenever I eat some animal products whether it be eggs, dairy, or any meat, my allergies gets worse and I start to get sick.
The book The China Study talk about how much animal products can cause other illnesses such as cancer and heart disease, I do not think asthma or allergies have been studied with their correlation to foods – with the exception of dairy products. And based on what I read in the China Study, I bet there is a good chance that the studies were suppressed so nobody would find out.
So what I am asking all of you out there is have you is have you noticed any correlation between eating animal products and the severity of asthma or allergies? And if not, I would urge you to try being a vegan for a couple of weeks to see if symptoms improve. Let me know if you do – I would love to know if we are onto something.
Thanks!

Are there any home remedies for asthma?
I would really like to know if there are any cures or home remedies for asthma because I can't stand taking inhalers anymore and I feel that asthma has ruined my life too much. So, please give me a serious answer and don't tell me that you don't know…I want to get an answer from someone who at least knows any remedy or cure for asthma. thank you.
There are no cures, but there are a few things you can do to reduce the risks and/or symptoms:
-exercise regularly in order to expand your lungs
**EDIT: of course follow your doctors guidelines about the exercise thing..don't overexert yourself if it puts you at the risk of an asthma attack..still, in the long run, exercising does improve lung capacity
-keep a clean house and be sure to vaccuum (mainly because of dust)
-Taking a hot shower to breath in the vapors helps me
-Nebulizers can help you breath better, but make sure to get a good brand, otherwise it may lead to fungus growth, making your asthma even worse
-wash your bedding regularly
-don't let pets sleep with you or into the bedroom
-wash your hands and face after working outside
-don't keep too many stuffed animals in your bed (dust builds up on them)
-don't smoke
-A diet high in sucrose and refined carbohydrates (white flour based foods, supermarket snack foods, junk food etc) may aggravate pre-exisiting allergies and can cause all kinds of other problems, so these should be avoided and replaced with whole-food alternatives.
-Reduce/avoid milk, dairy and wheat products, as these can cause mucous congestion in the body.
-use an air cleaner
-buy hypo-allergenic products as often as you can
-avoid scented cleaners or air freshners
-hard floors are better for asthma sufferers than carpets, which trap dust
-of course, avoid allergens
Obviously it would be very difficult to do everything I just listed, but just a few choice changes can cause a big improvement!
hope these help
